How to Test an Atmospheric Water Generator Before a Bulk Order
An AWG sample test should answer a buying question: does this configuration meet the agreed requirement under defined conditions? A short video, a full tank or a nameplate rating cannot answer that on its own. Agree the test plan before shipping the sample, including who records results and how a failed or incomplete test will be handled.
1. Identify the sample and the acceptance scope
Record the model, serial number, electrical configuration, treatment stages, tank arrangement and enabled functions. Identify any differences between the sample and the planned bulk order. Agree the test conditions, duration, measurement equipment, tolerances, required documents and acceptance criteria in writing. This guide is a buyer worksheet, not a universal certification or test standard.
2. Commission the sample before measuring performance
Inspect transport damage and check the installation instructions. Follow the model’s specified preparation, settling, cleaning and flushing procedures. Confirm ventilation, power and service access. Record commissioning water separately so it is not counted as useful production. Keep the tank’s starting state and operating settings clear throughout the test.
3. Keep an output and energy record
| Record | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Date, start time and end time | Defines the measurement period and any stopped intervals. |
| Model, serial number and settings | Makes the result traceable to the tested configuration. |
| Intake temperature and relative humidity over time | Shows the conditions actually experienced by the machine. Record sensor position and instrument details. |
| Water dispensed, starting and ending tank levels | Separates newly produced water from water already stored. Record discarded water and losses separately. |
| Energy meter readings at start and finish | Measures electricity over the same period as usable output. Identify included loads. |
| Faults, cleaning, full-tank stops and other interruptions | Explains why actual operation may differ from continuous-production claims. |
Use calibrated or suitably checked instruments with accuracy appropriate to the agreed test. Place the air sensor where it represents intake conditions, rather than in direct exhaust or another unrepresentative location. Avoid changing humidity, room conditions or operating settings without recording the change.
4. Compare results on the same basis
Specific electricity use is measured kWh divided by usable litres over the same period. For an arithmetic example, 12 kWh and 15 usable litres give 0.8 kWh/L. These are hypothetical inputs, not a ZENIUS product result. Record zero-output periods separately. Do not turn a brief favourable test into a guaranteed 24-hour or annual output figure.
A test at one climate point cannot establish the entire seasonal performance curve. If the buyer’s installation differs from the rated test point, identify the available evidence and uncertainty. Distinguish water-generation performance from hot/cold dispensing demand and any external pump or treatment load.
5. Review drinking-water quality separately
A functioning machine or a low TDS reading does not establish drinking-water safety. Agree the required parameters and sampling plan with a qualified laboratory and the relevant destination requirements. Record the sample identity, outlet, collection date, treatment state, handling and transport. A report covers the sampled conditions and scope; it does not certify every future installation or all models.
6. Link sample approval to the bulk order
- Keep the approved configuration, artwork, labels and manual version with the order record.
- Define inspection scope, batch sampling where applicable, acceptance criteria and the party responsible for verification.
- Record deviations and required corrections before approval. A sample approval does not replace agreed checks on the supplied order.
- Agree warranty responsibilities, consumable references, spare parts and the route for technical questions.
For a ZENIUS sample proposal, provide the destination, intended use, demand, power supply and branding requirements. We handle the model, available documents, sample scope and order requirements.
Frequently asked questions
How long should an AWG sample test run?
Agree a duration that addresses the purchasing question, operating cycles and required conditions. Record startup, stops and tank state. A short test does not demonstrate seasonal output or replace a specified acceptance procedure.
Can I check drinking-water safety with a TDS meter?
A TDS reading alone cannot rule out microbiological or chemical hazards. Use an appropriate sampling and laboratory-testing plan for the intended water use and destination.
Does an approved sample guarantee every bulk-order unit?
Sample approval establishes a reference configuration and agreed findings. The order still needs its own specification, inspection arrangements, acceptance criteria and support responsibilities.
