Atmospheric Water Generator Installation Requirements: Power, Ventilation and Space

An atmospheric water generator needs more than an available floor area and a power socket. Installation planning connects the selected model with the air it receives, the electrical supply, the water arrangement and the people who will maintain it. Confirm the model-specific instructions before ordering equipment or preparing the site.

The site information to send before selection

Site detailInformation for the proposal
Location and environmentCity, indoor or outdoor position, seasonal intake temperature and humidity, dust and nearby emissions.
Water demandUsable drinking-water volume, peak dispensing needs, operating hours and backup arrangements.
Electrical supplyAvailable voltage, phase, frequency, circuit capacity and any generator or solar system.
Space and accessMachine position, doorways, handling route, floor suitability, ventilation and maintenance access.
Water arrangementInternal or external storage, dispensing location, any pumps, connected treatment and drainage needs.
Service planWho will commission, clean, test and maintain the equipment, and how consumables will reach the site.

Air intake, ventilation and heat rejection

Assess the air at the proposed intake, including the effect of air conditioning and seasonal changes. Keep intake and exhaust paths clear and avoid placing the unit where exhaust repeatedly returns to the intake. Follow the selected model’s installation drawing for clearances. There is no single spacing value suitable for every AWG.

Compressor operation and other electrical loads add heat to the installation environment. In a confined indoor space, review ventilation or air-conditioning requirements and include the associated energy in the site budget where relevant. Do not enclose or duct a unit unless its design and instructions allow that arrangement.

Review contamination sources such as vehicle exhaust, solvents and process emissions. Do not assume a generic filter makes every intake location acceptable. Confirm whether the equipment is intended for indoor or outdoor use and what environmental protection it requires.

Electrical supply and off-grid systems

Match voltage, phase and frequency to the offered configuration. A qualified installer should confirm circuit protection, earthing and local electrical requirements using the model documents. Check operating and starting loads when specifying generators, inverters or batteries. A solar-powered proposal also needs seasonal generation, storage losses and backup considered.

Storage, dispensing and service access

Confirm whether the machine stores and dispenses water internally or connects to external equipment. Review sanitary storage, compatible water-contact materials, cleaning access, connections and any pump or backflow requirements for the actual design. An AWG outlet should not be assumed to provide mains-water pressure or whole-building supply.

Allow access to the specified filter doors, tanks, panels and parts that need routine service. Identify how wastewater from flushing or maintenance will be managed where applicable. Plan the equipment delivery route and handling method before shipment. Floor loading, anchoring and environmental protection require model-specific confirmation.

Commissioning and handover

  • Inspect the delivered equipment and compare its model and configuration with the order.
  • Follow the model instructions for positioning, transport recovery, cleaning, flushing and initial operation. Keep commissioning water separate from normal supply.
  • Check connections, leaks, controls and any alarms using the specified procedure. Record intake conditions, useful output and electricity over a defined period.
  • Complete the agreed water-quality checks and acceptance record. Hand over the manual, consumable references and support contacts to the operator.

Send ZENIUS a site description or layout and the available electrical and climate information. We handle equipment selection and set out the installation documents and responsibilities to be agreed for your project. Installation work and local service availability must be defined in the proposal.

Frequently asked questions

Can I install an AWG in a closed cupboard?

Only use an arrangement that the selected model supports. Restricted airflow, heat buildup and inaccessible service panels can make a location unsuitable. Confirm the installation drawing and ventilation requirements before enclosure.

Can an indoor AWG be used outdoors?

Do not assume so. Confirm the model’s intended environment, electrical and weather protection, operating conditions and installation instructions. A shelter alone does not establish outdoor suitability.

Does every AWG need the same clearance and electrical circuit?

No. Dimensions, airflow, service access, voltage and circuit requirements vary by model and configuration. Use the proposed equipment’s documentation and a qualified local installer.
